From the dynamic changes in the construction industry, the expansion of new construction, renovation, and remodeling in developing countries is considered a major driver for growth in the construction chemicals market.
Rapid population growth in countries such as China, India, and South Korea will fuel the increase in demand for residential and non-residential construction, thereby promoting industry growth. The demand for various construction chemicals,
such as paints, adhesives, and repair mortars, is also increasing accordingly. The technical advantages provided by construction chemicals can improve the durability of concrete structures while reducing corrosion.
This has also driven the demand for construction chemicals, including flooring, surface coatings, preservatives, concrete admixtures, and repair mortars. The demand for construction chemicals is further propelled by the growing demand for public, commercial, and residential buildings, as well as advancements in the construction industry. The need for new structures such as dams, highways, bridges, and tunnels to improve national infrastructure also drives sales growth in construction chemicals.
Additionally, rapid urbanization is an essential consideration. As the overall growth rate of the construction industry needs to keep pace with the continuous urbanization speed, the market for construction chemicals is growing rapidly.
The demand for construction chemicals will continue to grow, as these products can enhance the characteristics of buildings, such as compressive strength, durability, and adaptability to adverse working environments. To meet the increasing
demand brought by urbanization, more housing will be built in many regions to increase housing supply, and more non-residential buildings, including cinemas, retail centers, hospitals, and restaurants, will also be constructed. The increase
in per capita disposable income and improvement in living standards will stimulate demand for both residential and non-residential construction.
The global building repair market still has growth potential. Recent studies have shown that the global building repair market possesses robust growth potential. Repair materials are one of the major factors driving the growth of the global
building repair market. The Asia-Pacific region is expected to become the largest building repair market globally, as the large-scale expansion in the construction sector by emerging economies such as India and China, as well as the increasing
consumer spending on renovation and maintenance in developed economies like Australia and Japan, will play a significant role in driving economic growth. In terms of application, the residential sector has a prominent impact on the global
building repair market. The residential repair industry is driven by high sales of existing homes, increased consumer spending, urbanization, and the growth of the middle-class population worldwide. Furthermore, the repair industry for
existing infrastructure such as roads, bridges, tunnels, and historical buildings will also see opportunities. It is expected that the value of the building repair materials and repair industry will continue to expand at a compound annual growth
rate of 8.7% until 2026.Taking China as an example, as a major country in infrastructure construction, China's investment in urban maintenance and building repair is also increasing.
According to statistics from the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, by 2019, the total length of urban roads had reached 380,000 kilometers; there were 76,157 bridges, including 9,320 large and super-large bridges
and 5,430 flyovers. The length of completed rail transit lines was 6,058.90 kilometers, and the length of ongoing rail transit projects was 5,594.08 kilometers. Consequently, urban maintenance and building repair investments
are increasing: from 1978 to 2000, the total maintenance cost for infrastructure such as roads and bridges was 430.8 billion yuan, while in 2010 alone, the maintenance and construction expenditure for roads
and bridges reached 304 billion yuan. This trend is unlikely to weaken in the short term.
China's rapid urbanization and urban expansion over the past three decades have left a significant historical debt in terms of ecological environment, infrastructure, and urban quality. Therefore, in August 2019, the Ministry of Housing and
Urban-Rural Development of China launched the "double repair" work of "urban repair and ecological restoration" and issued the "Guiding Opinions on Strengthening Ecological Restoration and Urban Repair Work."
In the future, using effective repair materials and technical means to repair damaged buildings will be one of the important aspects of the guiding opinions.
