Application of Methyl Hydroxyethyl Cellulose (MHEC)

Hydroxyethyl methylcellulose (HEMC), also known as methyl hydroxyethyl cellulose (MHEC), is available in white, off-white or yellow-white granules. 

It is a non-ionic cellulose ether obtained by adding ethylene oxide to methyl cellulose. HEMC is made from natural renewable polymers such as wood pulp or cotton.

HEMC can be used as a highly efficient water retention agent, adhesive and film former, stabilizer, etc.

It is widely used in different industrial applications such as oil drilling, construction and building, paints and coatings, etc.

1、Gypsum plaster

(1) Improved uniformity: Enhances the consistency of the mortar, making it easier to apply and improving its anti-sagging ability. This also enhances mobility and pumpability, thereby improving work efficiency.

(2) High water retention: Extends the working time of the mortar, improves efficiency, and helps develop high mechanical strength during the setting process.

(3) High-quality surface coating: Achieve excellent finish by controlling the consistency of the mortar.

(3) Models with special high water retention can be used for highly absorbent bricks.

3、Tile Adhesives:

(1) Make dry mix ingredients easy to mix without lumps, saving working time. Improve construction results and reduce costs due to faster and more efficient application.

(2) Improve tile efficiency by extending cooling time. Provide excellent bonding effect.

4、Self leveling compounds:

(1) Provide viscosity to act as an anti-settling agent.

(2) Enhance flow and pumpability, thereby improving floor efficiency.

(3) Manages water retention to significantly reduce cracking and shrinkage.

5、Waterborne coatings:

(1) Extend shelf life by preventing solid precipitation. Excellent compatibility with other ingredients and high biostability.

(2) Fast dissolution and massless, helping to simplify the mixing process. Cold water dispersion model products, making mixing faster and easier, and without the formation of lumps.
